How It Works
What GotToGoFL does
GotToGoFL shows how long until the next known supported Florida rest stop ahead. Depending on the road, that may be a public rest area, welcome center, or service plaza. It uses your current location and direction while the page is open. No account is required, and GotToGoFL does not maintain a database of users' location histories.
Getting started
Tap Enable Location and allow location access. Before location starts, the sign says LOCATION REQUIRED. While your phone is finding a usable location, the app may show Finding your location....
Finding your road
FINDING YOUR ROAD means GotToGoFL is checking your location, direction, and nearby road before it makes a call. The five lights fill as it gathers enough usable location and movement information. If all five lights are active but the app is still searching, it is still resolving your road, direction, or travel state.
What the sign means
- Countdown: GotToGoFL knows your road and shows the next known stop ahead.
- WAITING FOR HIGHWAY TRAVEL: Location is on, but you appear stationary or not yet in supported highway travel.
- NO REST STOP COVERAGE HERE: You appear to be moving somewhere GotToGoFL does not currently cover.
- MPH: The speed display uses the best current speed value available from your device or recent location readings.
Supported roads
GotToGoFL supports selected Florida Interstates, Florida's Turnpike, US-19, US-27, US-231, SR-589, and can also identify certain nearby Alabama and Georgia welcome centers when leaving Florida on supported routes. It does not know every road.
Temporary uncertainty
Near ramps, parallel roads, weak GPS, or road changes, GotToGoFL may keep showing FINDING YOUR ROAD instead of guessing. That is intentional. It is better to wait briefly than to show the wrong road or wrong stop.
Safety and availability
GotToGoFL is a rest-area countdown, not turn-by-turn navigation. Always follow posted signs, roadway instructions, and current driving conditions. Facility hours and availability can change because of maintenance, construction, closures, emergencies, or other conditions.
Location recovery
iPhone / Safari
- Open Safari's Page Menu or Website Settings for the current site and allow Location.
- For Safari-wide access, go to Settings → Apps → Safari → Location.
- If location is disabled system-wide, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Return to GotToGoFL and tap Enable Location again.
Android / Chrome
- On GotToGoFL, open Site information → Permissions → Location and allow it.
- For Chrome-wide access, go to Chrome → Settings → Site settings → Location.
- If Chrome cannot access device location, go to Android Settings → Location → App permissions → Chrome.
- Return to GotToGoFL and tap Enable Location again.
Troubleshooting
- If location is unavailable, check browser location permission and make sure Location Services are enabled for the device.
- If the app seems inaccurate, GPS accuracy may improve as you continue traveling.
- If the installed app seems out of date, close and reopen it to check for the latest version.
- On iPhone, use Safari's Share button and choose Add to Home Screen to install GotToGoFL as a web app.
